Kavanah Pouch — navy signal-blocking phone pouch with gold and cream accents

Davening is a time to speak to Hashem. Kavanah Pouch helps create a quiet boundary between you and your phone.

How It Helps

A small pouch. A big difference in kavanah.

Put your phone inside before davening, close the pouch, and step away from calls, texts, chats, notifications, and the habit of checking "just one thing."

No silent mode. No airplane mode. No settings to restore afterward.

It works like a Faraday-style phone pouch, but it was designed specifically for davening, shul, learning, shiurim, and other moments when focus matters.

See exactly how it works

Why Kavanah Pouch?

Because davening deserves your full attention.

Kavanah means intention — the direction of the heart. Kavanah Pouch was created to make it easier to put the phone away physically, mentally, and spiritually.

01

No interruptions

Calls, texts, chats, and app alerts stay away while your phone is inside the pouch.

02

No settings to change

You do not need to turn the phone off, put it on silent, enable airplane mode, or adjust notifications.

03

Easy to return to normal

When you remove the phone, it reconnects and keeps the same settings it had before.

A Personal Note

Why I Created Kavanah Pouch

Kavanah Pouch was created from something many of us have seen — and experienced ourselves.

A person comes to shul wanting to daven with focus, but the phone is still nearby. Even if it is on silent, it can still pull at attention. A buzz, a message, or the thought of checking it can interrupt the moment.

Of course, a person can turn off the phone. But in real life, many people do not do that consistently. Kavanah Pouch creates a simple physical habit: place the phone inside before davening, close the pouch, and keep it nearby but out of sight, out of reach, and out of mind.

It is a small tool for a meaningful purpose: helping make focused davening a little easier.

Simple Routine

How It Works

The overall flow before, during, and after davening. See below for the detailed sealing instructions that get the best signal-blocking performance.

1

Place your phone inside

Before davening, put your phone into the Kavanah Pouch.

2

Close the pouch securely

The pouch is designed to help block wireless signals when fully sealed.

3

Take it out after davening

Your phone reconnects. No settings need to be restored.

For Best Results: Phone Down, Top Sealed

Kavanah Pouch is sized to fit a range of common phone sizes. For best signal-blocking performance, place your phone fully inside and let it slide to the bottom of the pouch before closing it.

Then close the Velcro flap and press firmly along the top seal area, especially the section just below the rounded top. The pouch works best when the phone is fully inside, resting at the bottom, and the top is sealed tightly.

  1. Place your phone fully inside.
  2. Let the phone slide to the bottom.
  3. Close the Velcro flap securely.
  4. Press firmly along the top seal area.
  5. Daven without distractions.

What happens if someone calls or texts while my phone is inside?

When the pouch is fully sealed, the phone should be temporarily unreachable by normal wireless signals. A phone call may go to voicemail or show as unavailable, depending on the caller's carrier and your phone setup. Texts, chats, and app notifications usually wait until the phone reconnects.

Use Cases

Made for the moments when focus matters most.

For davening in shul

You come to shul to daven, but the phone in your pocket keeps pulling your attention away. Even if it does not ring, you know it is there. Kavanah Pouch gives you a simple routine: phone in the pouch, slide it to the bottom, seal the top, and mind back to davening.

For davening at home

Davening at home can be even harder. The phone is nearby, notifications come in, and it is easy to get distracted. Kavanah Pouch helps create a small boundary, so davening time feels separate, calmer, and more focused.

Common Questions

Simple answers about Kavanah Pouch

What is Kavanah Pouch?

Kavanah Pouch is a signal-blocking phone pouch designed to help you reduce phone distractions during davening, learning, and shiurim. The phone stays with you, but inside the closed pouch it is out of sight, out of reach, and out of mind.

What problem does Kavanah Pouch solve?

It solves the everyday challenge of phones quietly pulling attention during davening — even when silent or vibrating. Kavanah Pouch replaces willpower with a simple physical habit: place the phone inside, close the pouch, and start tefillah without interruption.

Who is Kavanah Pouch for?

Anyone who wants to daven, learn, or sit through a shiur with fewer phone distractions — including individuals, families, yeshiva and seminary students, baalei teshuva, and mispallelim in any kehilla. Shuls, yeshivos, and camps order Kavanah Pouches in bulk for the same purpose.

How is Kavanah Pouch different from putting your phone on silent?

Silent mode stops sound, but the phone is still active, still buzzing for notifications, and still nearby. Kavanah Pouch creates a physical separation: when the pouch is fully sealed, it is designed to help prevent calls, texts, and notifications from interrupting davening.

Is Kavanah Pouch a good gift?

Yes. Kavanah Pouch is a meaningful gift for bar mitzvah, bas mitzvah, engagement, sheva brachos, yeshiva or seminary acceptance, or l'iluy nishmas a loved one. Many people also sponsor pouches in bulk for a shul, yeshiva, or kollel as a dedication.

FAQ

Questions before you order?

Why not just turn off the phone?

Turning off the phone is a great option for those who do it consistently.

But many people do not. Some forget. Some silence the phone but still check it. Some want the phone nearby for after davening. Others want a clear boundary without fully powering the phone down.

Kavanah Pouch gives people a simple physical action before davening: put the phone away, close the pouch, and move on with fewer distractions.

It is not a replacement for self-control. It is a tool that helps make self-control easier.

Do I need to turn off my phone first?

No. You can leave your phone as-is. The pouch is designed so you do not need to change settings like silent, vibrate, or airplane mode.

Will my phone ring inside the pouch?

If the pouch is properly closed and blocking the signal as intended, the phone should not receive the incoming call in real time. Depending on your carrier and phone setup, the call may go to voicemail or appear as unavailable.

What if my phone still rings inside the pouch?

Kavanah Pouch is designed to help block wireless signals when properly sealed. For best results, place the phone fully inside, let it slide to the bottom, close the Velcro flap securely, and press firmly along the top seal area. Signal-blocking performance may be affected if the pouch is not fully sealed, especially if the phone is near the opening.

Why should the phone be pushed to the bottom of the pouch?

Kavanah Pouch is made large enough to fit different phone sizes. In testing, the pouch works best when the phone is fully inside and resting at the bottom. If the phone stays near the top and the top seal is not pressed closed tightly, signal may get through. For best results, slide the phone to the bottom, close the Velcro, and press firmly along the top seal area.

Will I get my texts and notifications afterward?

Usually, messages and notifications arrive after the phone reconnects, but exact behavior depends on the app, phone, carrier, and how long the phone was disconnected.

Will the pouch drain my phone battery?

In normal short-term use, the pouch should not create a meaningful battery concern for most users. A phone that cannot connect to a signal may periodically search for service, and battery usage can vary depending on the phone model, battery condition, settings, and the surrounding signal environment.

In our own simple test, we placed a fully charged iPhone at 100% inside the pouch for 50 minutes, and the displayed battery percentage did not drop during that time.

The pouch is designed for practical use during davening: place the phone inside, close the pouch, and keep it out of sight and out of mind.

Does this work better than silent mode?

Silent mode stops sound. Kavanah Pouch creates a physical separation from the phone and is designed to help block incoming wireless signals when the pouch is fully sealed.

What phones fit?

Kavanah Pouch is sized to fit a range of common phone sizes. For best results, let the phone slide all the way to the bottom of the pouch, then seal the top fully.
